Passion’s AGM held in Nov.

The AGM was held on 15th November in the new converts rescue home in Kaduna.

This meeting was attended by the Board Members, patrons and members.  Ruth Veltkamp, a retired missionary to Nigeria from the United States of America attended the meeting and joyfully accepted becoming a Matron of Passion, willing to continue building the support network for Passion.

Thanks again to our generous donors who made the house project a reality.  We still solicit further support to complete the landscaping and a few other things in the house..

Thank you Rev Ibrahim

More ‘Thank you Rev Ibrahim’ comments from some recent converts:

UZTAZ:
(A former prominent Islamic preacher.  See conversion story in Issue 3.)
The most convincing verse in my life is John 16: 2 -3. “They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the father or me”.
Uztaz said, “When I understood this text and applied it to what I am facing for accepting Christ, I am no longer surprised. I hold on to the new faith and hope in Christ and will keep this because it is a fulfilment.”

IDRIS:
Idris is a convert who received Christ in one of our missions in April 2011 and after receiving some holistic discipleship from Passion relocated to Jos for safety. He appreciates Romans 8:28. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (NIV)

SHUAIBU:
Shuaibu (James) is a convert who has been with Passion since February, 2014. He is now in a Christian High School in the southern part of Kaduna state. He has this to say about what he has learnt from the bible: John 3:16 is a confirmed measure of love displayed wholly on the cross by Jesus.
He says, “Na ba da gaskiya Yesu ya mutum domin Mutane su sami ceto. (Yahaya 3:16) Kuma duk wanda bai bad a gaskiya ba zai halaka (Yahaya 3:36)”
“I believe Jesus died for all people to be saved.” (John 3:16).  “Whoever do not believe are condemned already.” (John 3:36) (translated)

ARMA’ YAU:
Another convert, Arma’ Yau, was convicted by Mark 8:36, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world yet forfeit his soul?” He says in the light of this verse he no longer worries about losing his job with the Nigerian police force, his car and house. According to him, they cannot be compared with the salvation he has found in Christ.

YAHAYA:
Yahaya Mohammed believes that he never regrets knowing and believing Jesus. “My mother and siblings are alive and have not got what I have in Christ. This is my passion. I pray that they will meet salvation.”

PRAY that all of these new converts will be blessed as they celebrate Christmas, joyful in the knowledge that they are now part of His ‘forever family’..

God works in …

Passion has a new friend – an open and liberal Muslim who condemns the current Islamic radicalism in the world.  He is willing to speak objectively about the challenges of Islam.
A radio program, titled ‘Know Your Neighbour Movement’, to educate Muslims on what they have learned wrongly about Christianity, is planned. Sponsorship to pay for the airtime for this initiative is needed..

Newsletter Aug 2014 – Safe house Dedication

THE TASK BEFORE PASSION

One may wonder why Passion publishes such information as found in this Newsletter.  I am sure that it has surprised many to hear that reported atrocities are perpetuated by the widely proclaimed religion of peace (Islam).  Where do they draw their inspiration and be so determined, damming the consequences.  Without a divine promised reward that they are undoubtedly trusting and looking forward to receiving, no normal person would dare take a vain risk like this.

We need an understanding of why we read about Islam as a religion of peace and yet see violence perpetuated by Muslims in almost every region where Muslims live, not only in Nigeria but globally.  Every true and divine instruction should sound the same.  Young Chibok girls abducted, female teenage suicide bombers – such actions remain unclear to many.  Passion is working on finding out the reasons for these double tunes coming from Muslims and the teachings of Islam.

Rev. Muhammed Ibrahim
Thank you for remembering Passion for Converts International in your prayers..

Modern day Paul?

A year ago, in Issue No.3 of the Newsletter, it was reported that an Uztaz, a prominent Islamic preacher, met Jesus in his sleep and woke up the next morning with the conviction that Jesus is Lord.

His spiritual eyes were opened to the truth and his world really was turned upside-down.  His wife’s family insisted she divorce him.

Regardless, he has remained faithful to his Lord and Master and has so immersed himself in the Scriptures that just recently, with the aid of a donated megaphone, he courageously goes out into his local community every morning, declaring that Jesus saves.  (His face is not shown to maintain anonymity.).

Disturbing news …

Nationally:

Rev.Ibrahim has written:
‘Recently, there were several attacks by the suspected Boko Haram members on the poor farmers in the rural setting of Sanga Local Government.  It is in the southern part of Kaduna state and shares a boundary with the northern part of Nasarawa state.  The area is predominantly Christian.  Sad to note here that the government of Kaduna state gave them little attention in terms of emergency help.  Many kept dissociating these attacks from having religious affiliation but it is clear that no Mosque was destroyed in the Sanga attacks or a Muslim family attacked.  With all glory to God, the Christian community did not mount a revenge mission. This is in line with the teaching of the scripture.’

Locally:

We, (Rev.Ibrahim’s family), woke up on the 23th July to hear about two bomb blasts in the city of Kaduna – where we live.  One of the blasts targeted a renowned Islamic Scholar (Sheik Dahiru Bauchi). He is one of the Liberal scholars who advocates for peaceful Islam. The other blast targeted the former Military leader and leader of the greatest opposition party in Nigeria.  Both of them are Muslims and have a lot of followers.  These incidents changed the interpretations of our insurgency challenge in Nigeria. If not for divine intervention, test events could have plunged our state into confusion and clear crises..

Update on prominent Islamic preacher who has come to faith

Our friend and brother, the Uztaz who recently came to faith had no option but to accept his wife’s request for divorce as demanded by her parents since his conversion to Christianity.  An Islamic shariah court granted his wife the divorce.

The Uztaz is remaining faithful to Jesus and has accepted remaining single. He presently reads the Arabic copy of the Bible presented to him by Passion.  His children are already enrolled in various Christian/Western education schools, funded by some believers.  Both children are doing well and would appreciate your prayers and support.  They are all gradually overcoming the culture shock as they blend easily into Christian communities..

Passion Seminars fulfill a great unmet need in Nigeria

Pictured above are some of the pastors who attended a recent Passion Seminar in Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria.

Over 25 different denominations under the umbrella body of the Pentecostal Fellowship (PFN) of Nigeria attended the Seminar.  They all came from Abuja Municipal and two local Government areas of Nasarawa state that shares a boundary with Abuja.

Ruth Veltkamp, in the purple dress, was a guest speaker at the Seminar.  She currently lives in Michigan, USA.  She had served in Northern Nigeria for over forty years as a missionary.  With her wealth of experience, she spoke on: “Forgiveness as God intended it; a tool for Muslim Evangelism in Northern Nigeria” and “Challenges of Muslim evangelism in Northern Nigeria”

Rev. Ibrahim’s topics included “Christianity and the global Islamic agenda”, “Holistic Discipleship of Muslim Background Believers” and “The History of Christian-Muslim relations and our salvation.”
The next training Seminar will be held in Zonkwa in early January, 2014.
