A new opportunity for Passion

An American who served as a Missionary and teacher in Rev. Ibrahim’s former college (Theological College of Northern Nigeria), has established a bookshop called ACTS (African Christian Textbooks).  It’s Headquarters are in Jos, the capital of Plateau state in the North central region of Nigeria and it now has branches in almost every theological college in Nigeria and others in Kenya and South Africa.

After a meeting with the Manager in Nigeria, Rev. Ibrahim’s aim is to be able to import some books on Islam which are not usually available in bookshops in Nigeria. If all works according to plan, these books would help in educating and equipping church leaders in the southern part of Kaduna state in Nigeria..

Nigerian President acts on militants in three N.E. states

In mid-May, President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in the states of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa following an attack on Police barracks in Bama in Borno state by Islamist militants.  Members of the Boko Haram group are blamed for most of the violence, having being linked to the deaths of around 2,000 people since 2010.

A massive deployment of men and resources are aiming to assert the nation’s territorial integrity, since the militants cross frontiers virtually unchallenged.  The President said that attacks on government buildings and the killing of officials and other civilians amounted to a declaration of war.

Amnesty International have accused Boko Haram of committing widespread atrocities in the mainly Muslim north.  The name Boko Haram means ‘Western education is forbidden’.  They are fighting to overthrow the government and create an Islamic state.

Rev. Ibrahim reports that “Although the Federal Government inaugurated a committee on amnesty for the Boko Haram sect, they kept killing Nigeria’s security forces. Hopefully, now that security forces are at war with the insurgents, the unnecessary killings of believers in that axis will be reduced.

Thanks be to God that we celebrated the 2013 Democracy Day without a record of any blasts, courtesy of the quenching of Boko Haram insurgency by the Presidential declaration of the state of emergency.”.

Newsletter May 2013 – Passion Founder visits Australia

Here is our first Newsletter as Passion for Converts International:

“In this era, who else needs the gospel more?  Where is our closest mission field?  I believe Muslims are.  There is no visible challenge before the church like Islam.  The greatest challenge is the inability of christendom to realize the existing deception of Islam even to the learned Western world.  Passion is not only committed to providing holistic discipleship but is also committed to the task of unveiling these deceptions.

Knowledge is power and freedom.  We have an assignment.  The world is waiting for your contribution in this timely ministry.  Passion desires to see more missionaries to the Muslim world.  We would love Muslims to be saved despite their violence.  We believe in the saving power of God.  We see the outbreak of revival in the Islamic world.  We are determined to ensure that saved Muslims express their passion to the salvation of fellow Muslims. Passion therefore invites you to keep this passion moving.”
Muhammed Ibrahim.

Thank you for remembering Passion for Converts International in your prayers..

The Vision and Work of Passion

Passion for Converts International is committed to total and holistic discipleship of converts to Christianity.  We are determined to see the meaningful growth of the convert.  Our key is from Hebrew 5:11-14.

We are committed to reducing the temptation of converts, particularly from Islam to Christianity, of backsliding to Islam due to some inevitable challenges.  We are also committed to reducing the financial implication of looking after the convert which the church has been doing.

Passion is also committed to the peaceful co-existence of Muslims and Christians because this opens the door for evangelism.  Passion for Converts International Ministry is a non-governmental, interdenominational non-profit oriented Christian Organisation.

We shall welcome your donations and partnership as the Lord may lay on your heart..

Melbourne and Brisbane
for four weeks during March and April, 2013. He last visited Australia in 2006.

He writes, “After finishing my Masters in Inter-cultural Studies at the West Africa Theological Seminary in Lagos, Nigeria in October, 2012, I was keen to explore the possibilities of doing a Ph.D in Australia.  It was a joy to meet up with some old friends again on this trip and make many new friends.

After a successful and blessed trip to and from Australia, I’m glad to inform you that God gave us a sister from Islam whose name is Ai’shah.*  She has had a 13 year marriage to a Muslim but Jesus appeared to her and saved her.  Passion is helping her Spiritually, has arranged temporary accommodation for her but needs to financially establish her.”
